January 2012 I had three finishes.

I completed my first ever Little House Needlework design.  I was gifted this chart and if I remember correctly the buttons.  This designer is now one of my favorites and I have quite a few of her charts in my inventory.  I was gifted The Heart of America chart complete with fabric and threads by a secret santa on a stitching message board.  I did stitch it and it hangs in my living room.

With this, I sent the completed stitched piece, the holly and cardinal buttons and some fabric to a finisher on the east coast.  She selected her own fabric, the gold trim and added the ivory buttons. Was pleased with the results.

For February 2012 I worked on two projects.

The first one was a kit by Dimensions.  My first and last one.  I used the kit materials which had 18ct aida and for some of the stitches it called for four, yes, four strands of thread.  Threads twisted, tangled and I even had to contact the company and request more.  I did complete it and had it framed. I gifted it to a former neighbor who loved cats.

Was in another stitcher's exchange, this time it was a bookmark exchange and after receiving information on my partner I designed a personal bookmark for her.  I used elements from three different sources.  My partner liked purple, loved England and anything to do with British culture and liked cats.  I used a piece of blue/purple overdyed aida and found a castle and a cat whose front paw was reaching up as if touching the wording.  I made the bookmark, sewing a seam in the back and fringed the edges.

For April 2012, I did five smaller sized designs.

I completed my first Mill Hill pin/magnet kit.  I glued white felt and a magnet on the back and gifted it to my youngest sister.

Next I worked on a kit that I won in a giveaway hosted by a woman in Maine.  Had to do a few stitches I'd not done before.  First time ever doing a needlebook.  Liked how it turned out.  I do use this and I carry it in my little bag of sewing accessories I keep close by with my counted cross stitching.

After completing the needlecase I worked on a Lizzie Kate design.  I used Rainbow Gallery threads to get a fuzzy looking feather.  I have this hanging in the hallway of my home as part of a wall grouping with the three Mill Hill Jim Shore Quilted Cat Series that I did.

Hangs in my Kitchen Hallway

Last piece I did in April holds special meaning for me.  Brings back special memories of the time I lived in southern Illinois.  I attended and graduated magna cum laude from Southern Illinois University.  I had the piece framed and had it hung in my old apartment.  The more I studied it, I more I didn't like it.  The fabric and frame choice didn't work.  I gifted it to a former neighbor.  Plan to restitch this design, framing it myself.

Laid my needle down for several months.

Sometime in the fall I was gifted a My Big Toes Designs chart in a secret sister exchange and pulled what I needed to start the design and began stitching again.  First time doing a chart by this designer.  I have this hanging in my bathroom.

My last cross stitch finish for 2012, completed in December, was a Stoney Creek Pattern of the Month Series design.  My first one.  They are addictive, and I can say that, as I have completed two others with a few more in the "projects to do" bag.
