I didn't pick up a needle and start sewing until April.  I had gone through a divorce that was finalized December 2012.  I moved to a new area January 2013.  My dad died February 2013.  A few changes. Thank God for the power of prayer and His healing touch.  Time does heal a heart.

I had started this design when I opened a package I had received on Christmas Eve day by DHL.  Was a total surprise.  It came from Australia.  I changed out the fabric provided in the kit to a piece of evenweave that I had.  Wanted a sky.  Enjoyed every stitch I put in this piece.

I have this hanging in my living room above a framed Paula Vaughan piece that I got in a secret sister exchange.  I treasure these two pieces.

The next piece I completed was gifted to me as a housewarming gift by a wonderful stitcher in Des Moines, Iowa.  I received the chart, fabric and threads.  Arrived as a kit complete with the embellishments.  I have this hanging in my living room above the front door.  Really like the frame my framer helped me pick out.  Feel it brings out the colors in the design.

In May I completed three pieces.

I did a bookmark using plastic canvas.  I saw one posted as a finish on a stitching message board and shared that I liked it.  I was loaned the book that the design was in.  Once I got the book, saw a different one I liked better and did that one instead.  Was a quick stitch.  I did half stitches ///// instead of completed ones xxxxx for most of the design.  Have since found the same book of designs and purchased it for my inventory.

Next piece I completed was a Stoney Creek design and I used navy blue fabric.  Not really a fabric of choice but I felt I needed to use the navy to make the design "pop."  I'm glad I did.  I really like how it turned out.  As I was stitching it, I wanted the finished design framed in red.  I was not disappointed when I got it back from the framer.

This hangs in my living room.  Makes a nice wall grouping with my Stoney Creek schoolhouse design.. I had it reframed because I wasn't happy with seeing the white mount board through the blue fabric.  The second framer used black mount board.  Like the end results much better.

Hangs in my Living Room

Last piece I completed in May was a fun one.  Loved the design.  I shared I liked the design and was loaned the chart.  I wanted to stitch it because when I first saw it, it reminded me of my mom and a little knick knack that she had displayed on a bookcase in her living room.  She noticed that I liked it and gave it to me. It's small but it is one of my most treasured possessions. I have it in my curio cabinet.  It is a little bunny in a yellow slicker standing under a yellow daffodil flower. Adorable. This piece hangs in my living room. I used Mill Hill beads for the eyes.  Something I've started to do with my cross stitch.  I also used sparkly Mill Hill beads for the raindrops.  Every time I look at this piece, I smile.

In July I finished two pieces.

The first was a hand towel with a design from Stoney Creek.  One of the ladies where I used to live had been so kind to me.  She would visit with me and watch Gracie (my kitty who died in 2015) Her birthday was in July and I found out her favorite bird was the cardinal.  I remembered that in one of the issues of the Stoney Creek magazines there was a cardinal design for a towel, I bought the towel, pulled the magazine and threads and completed it. I used three strands of thread because I didn't want the white to show through.  Next time I do one of these designs, will stay with two strands.

In August I finished a Christmas ornament that I had originally planned to send in a Christmas ornament exchange.  I changed my mind and decided to do another design by JBW Designs. With this Mill Hills Design, I completed the stitching and attached all the beads.  It's in my bag of "need to finish" projects.

Not a cross stitch finish, but a handsewn finish nonetheless.  Have since completed all 15 of the quilt block squares and sewed them into a quilt.  The quilt is displayed on my bed.  The quilt is twin sized, used cotton fabric for the backing, cotton for the batting, was long arm quilted and I did the binding and hemmed it by hand.
