Stoney Creek Joyful Snowman WIP

Where I left off before going to bed last night.

The tree is done.  Have fringe (turkey stitches) on the scarf.  Top of sleigh is done.  Everything that can be outlined to this point has been done.  Now that the tree is done, I can go back and do some of the snowflakes.  Will be easier to count and get the spacing right.

Had to outline the tree under the star, liked the DMC #3371 by the star, finished outlining the star as suggested by chart.

Chart is copied, but after I do a large section, I cut off and tear up.  With frequent thread changes, it's easier for me to keep track of where I'm at when I can keep the chart close and highlight or mark off as I go.  It works for me.  I also use more than one needle for the confetti stitches.  Won't show the back.  Would make the judges gasp.  I don't care.  The back doesn't show in the frame.  The front does.

In other news...

Been thinking about my new floor stand.  Hope to hear from the shop before too long. So want to two hand stitch again.

The house moaned and groaned for most of the night last night.  Strong winds, rain and snow.  Winter is here.  It's sunny here today after being so dreary yesterday.  The winds are still blowing but not like they were yesterday.  Thought about the early settlers on the open prairies.  Sod houses.  Log cabins.  Miles and miles of open space.  Winter weather.  Simpler times.  Different times.  Having said that though I do like being able to get about in a car, call on the phone and answer an email.  Speaking of which I have a few to answer.

Goals for the rest of the day include making a pasta salad, some banana bread with walnuts, chicken salad (cooked the chicken yesterday) and working some more on Joyful Snowman.  Dawned on me last night while stitching that this is the last month of the year - would like to have this completed by the end of December.  Doesn't have to be finished finished.  Just completely stitched.
